In Progress. First paintjob, Rx-4920

Well, that box I modded and put a line-in on. I just painted tonight. It'll be a gift for my niece. Not put together yet, it's drying at work tonight. But here's some pics. The back is slightly darker, as to keep with a way most boxes are, and the keys/knobs and even darker shade. Let me know what ya think.

The front is actually metallic. You'll see with finished puctures.

Made a stencil to put Niece's name on the back. Says "Kaedyn" it'll be more visible when done.


Didn't take pics of final coat yet. I meant the back to be kind of a satin, like normal, but unless it died back overnight drying, it's probably more of a semi-gloss.

Yeah, the paint is worth more than I spent on the box. Haha. It's Glasurit Automotive paint.

Here's a few more updated pics from today.

I brush painted the Panasonic backbto black. Now before I started, my biggest question was what to do with the speaker grilles... I had a feeling, as you can see, leaving them pink would look really blah, more like a barbie toy.


So after looking at a few boxes. I felt black would make it really poo and help it not look so blah. I think the black pretty good on it.


I'm still on the fence if I shoulda darkened the back like it did. Here's them together with some writing I brushed on the top. Needs more coats on the lettering... Not sure how much I like that either. But it's not terrible. Lol.

The colors are reminding me of a Realistic I painted years ago, but did the back in black.. Great progress so far!

I really think the Panny's with the plastic grills benefit from the "black" treatment.

Thanks man. You know, those pics of Little Slo are one of the things that really made me think of getting her one. My daughter is always gonna have them around her, but she's too young to walk around with one right now.

My niece is also my god daughter, "boombox" was probably one of the first 20 or so words she learned. So I thought of getting her one. I remember asking her what kind she wants, "pink." It was for her 3rd birthday she just had Saturday.

Sad part is, I was videoing for my sister, I didn't get a chance to take pics of her opening it. It's not completely done, but I slapped it together quick enough that it looks done.

The only pic I got of it together. And it's blurry. Ugh...

Nice! I think once your daughter gets a little bigger ( and it will come sooner than you think ) you will be having a lot fun with her in the boombox mix. We gotta start em young
