Like many of you that grew up in the 80's, the movie Breakin holds a special place for me. Yeah it was a cheesy hollywood movie but I was 8 years old when it came out and it was my version of "Gone with the Wind" or the "Sound of Music." Not only did it help introduce me to the hip hop culture but it also light a fire in me to learn how to dance and master the skills of "Ozone" and "Turbo."
But you know that the various scenes in the movie, like the one at Venice Beach, could not have been possible without a boombox being present. And what a version of the Conion c-100 it was.

Then came Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo, even more cheesy then the first. Along with the over the top dance sequences, it also introduced new graffitied versions of some grails. The Sharp 777 and the Rising 20/20.

The question is, what happened to these radios? I always wondered, and last year I thought I was going to finally get my answers. At a dance competition I met Micheal Chambers aka "Turbo." It was really cool to meet him. He was 16 when he made the movie and I was an 8 year old kid that idolized him as a dance god!
So one of the questions I asked him was what ever happened to all the boomboxes from the movies? His answer surprised me! He said he had not idea because when they made the movies, no one realized that they were making films that would become icon and so loved many years later so no one gave any of the movie related stuff much importance.
So the one person I thought would give me a lead to these boomboxes' whereabouts actually ended up being a dead end.
So this is where I need your help. I'm on a mission to find these boxes. I obviously would love to have them in my collection like so many of you but I just want to know that these icon boxes still exist and didn't end up in a landfill somewhere. I recently was talking to a collector and mentioned my desire to find the Breakin c-100 and to my surprise he said that about 8 years ago he saw someone selling the Breakin c-100 on craigslist out of Boston. I was shocked! So far that's the best lead I have.
Up until now I figured that they would be lost in some type of prop storage unit and haven't seen the light of day for 30+ years. But this Boston lead, if infact it was the real deal, could mean that these boxes could be in the hands of collectors. If that's the case, the strange thing is that they are nowhere to be found on the internet. Most collectors have some type of presence online.
This is where all of you come in, I'd really appreciate any help any of you could give me in my search. Together we have so much experience and contacts in the world of blasters that I thought there would be a much better chance of solving this mystery if I ask for your help rather then try and find these boxes on my own.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
