Hi,

I just purchased a cord for my Crown CSC-950, headphone to phono, so I could connect it to my laptop. It wasn't cheap either. I connected it up, and started playing a song from the laptop to the boombox, and the sound from the boombox was very bad, horribly distorted. Fair enough, the selector says phono, but I wasn't expecting it to sound bad. Is the 950 just one of those boxes with no proper line in? Has anyone managed to get a decent sound out of one when connecting an MP3 etc?

you need the adapter that has a preamp for the phono line in jack if you use it direct it will not work...

Or just adjust your sound levels on PC/mp3 at very low. Dont forget the software player on your comp as well. I mean everywhere the sound must be at minimal... It will work  . The distortion will be gone than so you can use your boombox :breakdance: . Work on every one  .

Regardless of signal level, the eq curve will be waaaaaaay wrong.

Even if you can reduce distortion to acceptable levels the tonal balance will remain extremely uneven.
