Yes, that is how the Mrs. is feeling lately. The Mr. asked me to help him with 'a situation' between two members. After reading all the comments with this situation as well as some of the topics in this site, I am not happy at all. AT ALL. Some of you boys should be ashamed of yourselves!

History lesson: If you remember, this site was born for a love and fellowship of boomboxes. It was started after a bunch of you were unhappy with things over on another site.

It seems history is repeating itself to some degree. There are threads that have turned into downright knockdown, name calling, smear fests. There are threads DEDICATED to the shady going ons of specific members. There are accusations of deliberately lying to each other to sell a box. There are accusations of stealing parts from other people's boxes and returning them as damaged. I say accusations because I wasn't there and have no real way of knowing what truly happened. With that said, clearly things HAVE happened. There are people who have gone missing from this site because they feel that that they have been shafted or bullied by others.

I understand that sometimes money is tight and you need to make some quick cash and you are faced with parting with boxes that you wouldn't normally sell. If that is the case BE HONEST about the working condition. Upload YOUR pictures of YOUR box. Not pictures of someone else's that is similar. Hell, take a video of it in action and post it to youtube.

These boxes are old. Plastic eventually gives out. Some of you are shipping across the world. Be mindful of these things. Storks are not carrying your prize box in a fluffy cloud like a newborn baby. It's being thrown into the back of at least one van, possibly more, with 10 more boxes stacked on top of it. Driven or flown many miles. Pack your stuff in a way that ensures that it will arrive safely. There is an entire thread that gives you tried and true tips on the proper way to package a box. Read it. Take a picture to prove that you did your part.

For buyers....be willing to take a hit. Not everyone opens a box and verifies that every belt is perfect. If it works, it works. It is stops working 3 weeks later, that's on you man. It worked when it left my house. That could happen with a brand new iPad that you purchased from Apple. This stuff is not invincible. Pay for insurance. That way if the box gets damaged, you can get a claim against the company. Because quite honestly, if I have packed it to the best of my abilities, once it leave my house, it is not my fault what happens to it. You could have a psychotic mailman that hates you and kicks you packages....how am I to know? If the box looks damaged, take pictures of it BEFORE you open it and along the way. Again, how I am to know that you weren't the careless one and just dumped the contents out on the floor.

Pay through PayPal or some other form that has a buyer's guarantee. Boomboxery.com does not offer any guarantees of anything that happens here. We are not eBay. The selling thread is only a small aspect of this site. Do your homework. Do your reaserch. If a deal seems too goo to be true, it probably is. If 20 people have said "X" can't pack a box for crap, do you think that they will suddenly take extra care for you?

Either way, everyone here is an adult. Take responsibility for your actions and treat others as you want to be treated.

And just in case there are any newbies that come out with a "who the hell does she think she is" or some other snarky comment, please be aware that the Mrs. in the case, is THE Mrs.

This mess needs to stop. It is shameful and embarassing. Play nicely boys.

Hopefully most of you get a chance to read this. The Mr. tends to take down my threads where I get out my soapbox.

I agree.

I'm sorry to have been mixed up in some of the mess as well.

We have to be good to eachother. It's the only way to make this work.

I hope everyone does get a chance to read it. The thing that pushed me over the edge was when one member mailed a box to another. The recipient changed his mind and sent the box back. The original guy refunded money. THEN learned that the box had been opened and pieces and parts were removed before it was shipped back. FOR REAL! You straight up stole something from another member. Again, all accusations, but if it did happen....that is just shady man. You should know better.

Some other man's wife shouldn't have to tell you that you have conduct unbecoming a Boomboxery.com member.

Good thread; thank you.
The above post is unreal. I can't believe that that has happened. Are members going to have to start putting tamper seals over a few screws before sending something off? I wouldn't feel good listening to a box knowing I had to scam someone to get it working. While this hobby is great, if participating comes at the expense of our integrity can it really be worth it?

i learned that you are better off just being honest about things even if the truth hurts ,mind you it's hard to know every detail about every box ,just tell it like it is and let the buyer decide , but actually changing or stealing parts is beyond belief especially when you are supposed to be dealing with friends. i been in the wrong before but never involved with shady or dishonest dealings ,mostly just letting my mouth runneth over . i think if a detail about a boxes condition slips past us we should be willing to make it right ,but flat out stealing is ****ed up and makes the thief ****ed up. and you know who you are i hope , just know that this kind of activity will come back to you eventually.i would rather give away every box i own than to be considered a thief!.

That couldn't be any more clear. There is no way I could knowingly rip someone off or steal from them, no freakin way. I wouldn't be able to show my face again.

We are all here to support eachother, help look for the grail someone might have on their list, get the needed parts to the people who need them, and share all our stories, mods, fixes, and ideas!

I seemed to have missed the whole thing. gonna have to do some investigative work to see whats up. I've had that exact situation happen to me when I sold one on Ebay once and that really sucked. Don't want to travel that road again, nor buy a box full of stolen parts!!

Thanks Mrs. FD. Both you and Mr. FD have worked hard to make this a fun lighthearted community with a better than average behavior compared to some online communities I belong to.

I have heard of this behavior in the past and had hoped it wouldn't rear it's ugly head again, but it needs to be mentioned from time to time, just to keep the playing field clean and level.

Boomboxery is a special place. It really is and it's up to US to be cool. Maybe even cooler than you normally would in your daily life. If you have to work on it...than work FOR it.

Thanks for the support guys. All aspects of social media is what gets us here. Some of the things that are said in posts, PMs, and emails you would NEVER say if you were looking someone in the eye. Same goes for selling stuff over the internet. If you were lookign someone in the eye when you handed them the piece of crap, chances are you wouldn't hand them the piece of crap. Cyber life makes some people lunatics. If you wouldn't use certain language or behave a certain way aroud your momma, your wife, or your daughter then don't use it in a forum amongst friends.

It really is just that simple.

No, I will not have your quote deleted without warning. If you have had a falling out between another member, take it up with them, this is a forum amongst fellow enthusiast. It has never pretended to be nor will it ever be anything more than that. If my expectations are too high for some, so be it. But do not hijack my soapbox thread unless you want to prove my point.

And for future posters of this thread, there is no need at all to comment on this specific reply or the one prior to it. Feel free to comment on the original post as you wish.

the problem is w/ joe your husband, he can tell u all about it around the dinner table.

Please clarify. Joe is not my husband. Bobby is. So do you have a problem with Joe or Joe and my husband?

Either way, it clearly isn't me. So, please do not hijack this with your specific issue.

For quite some time, I've already been feeling "exactly" like Mrs. Fatdog. I've had private discussions with others about how some members seem to only post for the sake to stir up trouble or inject drama into what otherwise should have been a positive thread. It seems almost inevitable for naysayers to sooner or later find their way into such threads. I am quite mindful of the reason why this alternative site was formed. Many of those same members that have made this site so lively and enjoyable back then are rarely here now. And I don't blame them. As many of you know, I'm not here that much anymore either. Much of it has to do with this exact same sentiment. Why would anyone ever want to post up their score or collection or sale item only to have it trashed, all in the name of free speech. I know this, if the positive threads don't greatly outnumber the negative ones, then the allure that draws us here will no longer be a factor. I'm not much into controversy or drama but to preserve what we knew, we should reclaim this website and if that means crowding out the riff raff, then so be it. I have 1 important suggestion, we should have a sticky with our "mission statement" and those that can't abide (or forget) should either be directed to the sticky, warned, or just outright banned/exiled.

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the generosity of our selfless leader (and wife) for tolerating the often childish and sometimes idiotic behavior of our many members and still hosting this fantastic website and forum, all without want of profit or compensation. Thank you Bobby and Mrs. Fatdog.

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" is always the best policy when dealing with our fellow human beings. Good post Mrs. Fatdog.

I wasn't part of the old forum enough to comment on the past. This site was built for a reason. Members were invited here to enjoy a new style of portable audio comrodery. I appreciate the site for what it is and will continue to contribute positivity as much as I can.
