on the way to the store to get it i ducked into the sally ann .
from across the store i spotted that distinctive angled handle poking up.
took some harranging to get the beast down from the top shelf of the cluttered electronics section.
sure enough it was what it was.
could this be possible. a second one in the days of collecting. the dust was plentiful on this one and the sliders and such were definately in need of some cleaning.
it flickered to life when i plugged it in and well the price tag was sure attractive. i am looking a bit closer at the monolith now wondering still if this is actually happening. in this day and age of forty dollar rca egg boxes sitting on the shelves at your local thrifts .
wait the battery covers missing why bother with it  :w00t: then again i would have to be insane not to bother.
hmm all the lights are on. no radio sound missing antennas and this tape deck is seeming to be a bit ill.
well now i have a ways to walk. i think i will take it.

lets wipe it down with a damp cloth and spray some control cleaner into here. clean up that tape head.
cool tape deck in it working now.
radio works too. cant get fm stereo on her but i seem to remember my last one needed to be turned on for a few hours before she came fully back to life again for me......
well then
lets see her again this time without the twenty dollar price sticker.

she still needs some detailing she could use some more time put into here polish and shine.
ahh who am i kidding with the exception of a few minor bugs this box is damn near mint. cant get the fm stereo to work but you know i am not too worried about that. in fact even if the tape deck was dead i wouldnt care much. its really a nice radio.

That's the spirit bill, just finding one like you did is worth whatever is wrong.
Okay I'll admit it is better to find one fully working but we really can't complain when finding them in the wild.

i have one of these as well as the pc 55 ,i love these boxes ,nothing better than finding one cheap in the wild, glad to see it is working good now .these are very rugged boxes probably just needed some usage to get the ole blood flowing again.

yes i thought the elgato tuner stick headline would keep this one a surprise for only the most die hard boomboxery members.
most should know by now i can have a dry sense of humour sometimes.

Hot diggity damn!!! Fantabulous find and a great way to start the year!!!

i am pretty smitten with her.i had one once before and i always regretted selling her.
this one is in even nicer shape.
but someone tell me this.
i seem to remember my first one having jvcs proprietary noise reduction on it.
this one seems to only have dolby b and c.
whats up with that.

I think sometime during the life cycle for production JVC stopped utilizing ANRS throughou the JVC product line all together. :-)

i carried it for a couple of miles switching up hands.
people might not think that it is that heavy but trust me when you are hoofing it up some of the steepest hills in the lower mainland it gets really freaking heavy.
i am just really happy to have rescued her.
this has been a very good past few days with the boomboxes.
i also found a pristine m9996 on the weekend.
this tho is just a really wonderful surprise.
i think i am going to get another grail in not too long i can feel it in me bones.
lol.
been listening to it pretty much most of the evening.
the thing really is a great box. the tape deck is top rung and the reciever by boombox standards is very good. it still drifts out of stereo on the fm from time to time but you know guys. it is really a excellent condition box.
this is the time to hit your thrift stores. christmas is over and people are dropping off things because they got new stuff for christmas.

the tuner stick thing i am talking about lets you watch tv on your computer. and or record pretty much anything with a video signal into your computer.
i used it to record repo man into the computer tonight from vhs.
the only drawback to it is the huge file size it rips it at.

six gigs for a movie. overall tho its pretty sweet.
not as sweet as a twenty dollar grail tho.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I kept thinking that you had misspelled "stack." :-)
