Sanyo M-X650K

What an awesome sounding box. Everything works. Original antenna and power cord. Plays tapes very very well.

Local city wide rummage sales today, so I had to get out and really "hunt" for a BBX.

I just got done talking on the phone with a friend of mine and the last words besides good bye were "I'm going to start by these rich old folks places on Lake Shore Dr.. They probably had enough money back in the day to buy them new, so that's my best bet".

Sure enough, second house I stopped at, marked for $25, paid $17  and I got to test it before purchase .

Looks like this:

Yeah, I am happy to own it! Time for cleaning and touchup, otherwise it is good to go. :w00t:

I've always delight ed in the excellent unique look of this major player boombox. Your $17 is a gift for that box.
Enjoy.

Don't let redbenjoe or frank or bobby ever near it.

(Ira would give it away to the first young thing walking by, Frank would wash and paint it, and Bobby would shoot it!) :-P

The sound from this box is amazing when in stereo or Expand. Really clear and a sharp hitting bass and clear highs.

My plan was to remove the grill and black trim around the radio station needle and powder coat them a nice dark navy blue. Now seeing how much you guys like this box, I don't know if that would hurt the value if it is even valuable. By the sounds of it, this was a great buy and it was only $2 more than I paid for my Wheely  . Definetly a gift.

If it was me, I would do that in a heartbeat, without hesitation.

Alright, painting I will do!

For such an ugly box, it sure does sound good. It really needs a visual change to go with the good sound......

Can someone photoshop a quick pic with the black upper trim (not on cassette) and the black grill showing it as a navy blue?

Oh! Lovely box there, Blu!! Very special Sanyo that!

Lets hope she's less of a challenge than the JC2000, brother.

Rock On.

Thanks Glu.

I just took the transformer out of the Dynasty a few minutes ago for the BBXs trip to Superduper. This will be a scary ride for her but will be worth it in the end for sure. Thanks for the support.

I took apart the Sanyo and man was it fithy inside. I washed the case, blew the dust out of the inside, cleaned all the switches, and removed the grill.

Now, I am thinking of painting the front case...... I would mask around the dials/switches, mask the front section where the headphone jack/mic is, and mask the top of the box where the model number is printed in purple.

So, what color do I make the case?

Gill = navy blue or black
Masked areas = original silver/gray
Speakers = white
Front case = black or navy blue or.....?
Back case = original silver/gray
