why throw things in trash instead of selling it to someone for $10? i don't understand this kind of logic. ok so its actual value is more than $10 and the $10 offer feels like a slap in the face but it's worth nothing by trashing it. nobody wins. everyone loses. and i see it all the time too. people put something out on their lawn or driveway with a price tag on it. nobody buys it so they haul it to the dump. but they turned down the guy who offered $10. it's some kind of sick mentality like "if i can't get what i think it's worth then nobody will have it." how selfish. just give it to somebody who wants it instead of being bitter about "diminished value."

this guy should throw his whole collection in the trash. even the conions. he's not a real collector. he's just a douchebag. he obviously has no appreciation for the stuff and should just listen to his wife's stellar opinions.

let's face it there AREalternatives to dumping,i was going to dump several but just could not bring myself to do it!

of course $10 isn't enough for packing and shipping. take those things out of the equation. assume someone is willing to pay exact shipping or pick it up in person. and we're not talking cf100s or m90s. we're talking small to medium sanyo or realistic boxes. would you think $10 offers are ridiculous? would you rather throw it in the dump because you personally don't give stuff away for free or next to free?

Remember bmoney i agreed with u i just disagreed with the way u said it. The fact that this seller may have sold a bbx with piss poor packing is being addressed in the other thread,here in this thread at least to my understanding was the fact the boxes were DUMPED,yes????

It is related. James blames his frustration of selling his boomboxes on difficult buyers. That frustration has lead him to trash the gear rather than waste his precious time selling them (what he said, if you believe him).

What we are saying is that BUYERS also have a right to expect what they paid for, right? So, to tie it all together, if James had done his part, there would be no difficult buyers, no problem and he would have plenty of money in his pocket -- way more than $10. In my case, $100. So, if James was encountering frustration, it was frustration of his making. I was not being facetious when I said all could've been avoided had he invested another 50 cents in strapping tape -- I was serious.

Did James trash his collection of boomboxes? I highly doubt it. Was there another way to sell the boxes and avoid shipping hassles? Absolutely. Offer pick up only -- it's done all the time. That way, if you don't care to take the time to properly package and ship a box, then he doesn't have to.

but that's not what the guy did. he junked it. it is a free country and he is entitled to do whatever he wants with his stuff. i simply feel it's a d*ckhead move to trash something instead of accepting a lesser amount or giving it away to an interested party. the amount someone initially paid for an item is no longer relevant. and why be subtle? what would that achieve? the guy doesn't seem very rational and probably can't comprehend subtle. much less deserve it. and that relates to both topics.
