How to remove speaker retaining clips

I’ve searched and searched and can’t find anything that describes how to safely remove these retainer clips. Some contact the outside edge with a ninety degree flap but others do not. Maybe they just pull off with pliers but I thought it safer to ask before I try and then break one. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Just straighten them and push grill out. Just be glad those clips weren’t also pasted with black hardening tar like they do in a lot of boomboxes.

Is this little tear a problem? Leave it, glue it? Dab of silicone?

Ohhhh, it’s not a clip but a tab of the actual grille. I get it now. Posting pics for future newbies.

Any comment on how to deal with the tear? Or maybe just leave it? Thanks!
