Not speaking of the .jp J88 model. The US/europe/oz native one is what i'm referring to...
I'd like to nab one some day!
Here's an example...

The silver face CS880 is very rare.
From what I understand the silver face CS880s were built in late1980 to 1981.
And the blue face in 1982…….
The CS-J88 silver face seems to be more common than the blue face CS-J88…….

Scanned from 1981 Aiwa Brochure

From 1982 Aiwa brochure.

Cool stuff. There's even subtle differences between the two brochure scan 880's. i.e. model number labeling in the centre and the colour of the DSL button.
Anyone on here have the silver one?

these are some awesome boxes I have the j88 only the added mic mix button and the radio only going to 92 MHz  :-) just finding a radio board to swap then basicly you would have the silver face cs-880

lol. I am actually in conversation with the owner of the unit you have posted. The actual unit. Those surrounds are shot, As they will be need to be re done If I pull the trigger.

Worth a shot, IMHO, because the kit (from QSR) only costs around £10 or whatever that is in your local currency, including postage to any area, and can be fit with the caps in situ by anyone with a spare half hour.

I never really knew anything about this unit. I thought it had a center (actual) speaker. And of course, I was wrong. Kinda turned off by that fact. But It looks cool and I like the digital tuner. As for sound (because I listen to all my collected items) is it worth attempting to get one?

Sounds very nice, the highs aren't as good as most Panasonics, but it's got lots of bass for a 1-piece, and it's probably the 4th most powerful 1-piece after the M90, C100 and RX5350. But it doesn't have a Wide setting, and I got tired of the way it needed constant adjusting of the bass knob and DSL button to prevent the passive radiator from buzzing. You basically have to leave DSL off unless you're listening to something mild like classical or classic rock.
