Hi People!!

Paid £55 for this last week, the seller even took it of Ebay then offered me discount! Think he knew I was keen to get it!!

Now I am all too aware that these are under performers, they always were but not to a great extent & 35 years later after knowing someone who had one & that they very nice looking & solidly built, the chance to own one boxed with the instructions was something I couldn't pass up!

Anyway it arrived today & so far this is the stereo I have had to nothing more than clean it up - Just dust & dirt & not much either!! A couple of stubborn marks & f**king sellotape on the tuner window AGAIN

Who are these people??

Funnily enough this sellotape was just as stubborn as yesterday on the Maximal boomer, I mean really hard to get off leaving no trace!!

Head & roller clean of course - look at the cassette door & tuner window...........so clean & like new

Everything works like a brand new machine, never had batteries in it either & I doubt the aerial has ever been fully extended - the eject door makes that brand new quiet piston noise as it slowly opens

Sound is good, it's how I remember they sounded - doesn't compete with the better Pioneers at all but all said & done, it is a very nice stereo & a lovely addition as well as being a keeper

This model needs no introduction here or on Boomboxery

Always had the bug - It never went away, just lay dormant until I had the stroke in 2013 & I needed a reason & a pastime that I could spend my days enjoying life again!! Didn't have to look far :-D Got so many I always wanted now & although I need a break due to financial reasons (No money left) :-D Collecting will be resumed soonish!!

For now though I have my 960 to finish & loads of parts to advertise here as things are getting out of hand............There's stereo's in every room plus my boom room needs shelving badly & a workbench so I can shut the door & forget the latest job when I get too stressed    & it happens sadly when you suffer severe brain damage as I did!

Always good to go back to an annoying problem with a fresh outlook on what the problem is......................

There are simply too many stereos now to use the lounge & my tiny repair table to work on :w00t:

Boom Room is high on list this year, just need some decent shelving up in there, it's a big walk in cupboard the size of a small bedroom with power & already carpet tiled & painted just needs shelving :-)

Forgot to say that there is no more floorspace for any more in the boom room, just a sea of silver :-)

Nice Nick, thats a cool box in great order. Always nice to have a Pioneer to, you dont see many of them and one in the collection is a great score.

Fixing boomers can be a real pleasure but can easily become stressful mate, do as much as you feel then stop and walk away for a bit. I love fixing them up and when it all gets too much i leave it for a bit as this is suppossed to be a hobby so i dont want to be getting frustrated. Its so rewarding when they are all done though!

Fancy Boot's selling Pioneer boomboxes back then.
For non UK people 'Boots' is a very old British chemist (pharmacy).
