Hello everyone, I just joined this forum today.

My uncle have asked me to sell this boombox for him, and I have no knowledge on this boombox.
All I know its a JVC RC-838 C, still in perfect working condition.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much does this boombox usually go for?

Thanks in advance! :breakdance: :breakdance:

Here is the actual boombox, pretty good condition

At least $1. Beyond that, depends upon the available buyer pool in the market at the time. Just put it on eBay for $1 and you'll sell it for market price.

Whatever the market is willing to pay. There is no guide to "value". A lot of us collect because of the feeling, not the "value". Your best bet is to see if any are on ebay and what they might be going for. Good luck, and welcome!

Although that is the wrong first question to ask I'll bite.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I've seen these go from anywhere between 50 to 6000 Yen.

Circa 1978 the JVC RC-838c featured:

FM, MW, SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4
Single cassette
Battery check dial light
Biphonic stereo
Record muting
Battery level meter
Mode indicator light
Tuning level meter
Binaural equalizer
8 D cell batteries
The JVC RC-838c sells for about $250 today.

that being said, dont be at all surprised if you get nowhere near that much, or considerably more. It's all up to the market when you put it up for sale. if i were selling it, id probably put it at a 100 reserve and take what i could get

Don't SELL your uncle's 838. :nonono: BUY IT! That'll make you a collector, which is what this board is all about, and then you can start having FUN!!!

That's what I told him last night via PM!

"I think that you should sell it here on a boombox collector site so you know it will be well cared for. Heck, why don't you throw $50 to your grandpa for it and tell him you want to start collecting .

If you want sell it to someone off the site for $xxx, I suggest you put it up for sale for a member here for $xxx and it last forever. The guys here treat the BBX like it is GOLD. Shining it up, looking at it, showing their friends, playing old mix tapes on it, etc....

Good luck. I would take it for $xxx but you would have to accept payments of $xx a week . I'm tapped out right now.
