How good is JVC PC-6

Hi all,

I'm being offered a JVC PC-6 that I've never seen in person. It's in decent condition with dead tape & missing bracket + handle. Could anybody who've ever owned or heard it tell me how good this box sound? Does it qualify as one of the top models in the PC- series?

They are definitely rare. Most times you will only see the younger sibling PC5 - the PC5 handle works on the PC6. Member 71spud (he's a JVC freak ) has a few of these. Maybe he can chime in.

Me personally, I would go ahead and get it if the price is right.

I've got JVC PC-6 for about 2 years - yup, now it's a rare Portable Compo, one of PC best machines,
do like mine.
IMO, speaking about JVCs, PC-6 is the top PC one.
Victor PC-7 is a separate story.

BTW, the input level knob on your photo isn't original (or maybe broken) - right bottom corner.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ I'd go for it if the price was right, I love the almost timeless appearance of this. As for the missing handle, I think there must be a secret Boombox Handle Zone somewhere, something akin to The Elephant's Graveyard!

I'd say YES, more or less the same.

The thing is Victor PC-7 is the top PC series JDM machine,
I've never seen a JVC PC-7,
99% there is no such a model by JVC.

I have seen a Victor PC-7 for sale here once, but never seen a JVC one. Maybe the JVC PC-6 is a equivalent of the Victor PC-7, for international market.

Victor PC-7 - yes, I've got one, scored this beast in Japan, but JVC, well, never seen namely JVC PC-7.
