I'm reading up on speakers and how they work.
volts watts and sensitivity.
I can't seem to find anything on how to read the abbreviations on the back of boombox speakers.
What does the upside down horse shoe mean?

Cheers OSS :afro:

Speakers are rated in Watts. You won't see volts because by itself, it doesn't mean anything. That's because of the relationship between watts and volts. Watts = Volts x Amps. Both volts and amps will vary in the output signal and as long as the product of volts/amps fall within the power rating of the speaker, you are OK.

Ok, that upside down horseshoe thing is the Ohm or Impedance symbol. There is a relationship too between volts, amps and ohms. Basically, the higher the voltage, the more amps can be pushed through the same impedance circuit.

Pretty simple lesson there Norm, most should be able to grasp the concept except for that Ira character.
