Hi,I was just cranking up my Sanyo MX-720K and this is one of the few boomboxes that will literally scare me!! I mean it gets so loud and is so clean!!!
Go up to the 7-8 range on the volume and I mean wow!! It gets very very impressive!! I just love the sound in these,I had a friend crank a MX-920 and I feel my 720 sounds better!! I just need a cassette door and a battery cover and 3 switch caps on mine but mine works pretty good. Man I love the sound in these!!
(A rare Boombox review-been a while)😊😎🎼🎶📻📻

Yes it does sound better than the MX920 in my opinion.
Funny thing, the MX920 and M9998 have the same amp.
But the MX720 came later and has a different amp, a very good one too, some might say it's better

Thanks Reli,I knew that I was correct on this,it’s just an amazing Boombox!!😎
I have the 9998 and it’s nice and it’s somewhat warm and yes gets loud but the sound is clearer on the 720. Plus yes the 9998 is 79’ and the 920 is around 80’-81’ I believe and the 720 may have come out later 81’-82’.
Thanks again for your kind reply.😎🎶🎼📻

Do you think the 9998 sounds better than the 920 (with the same amp) because the speakers are sort of chambered?

Couldn't say.....They have different speakers for one thing. Also I've heard some that sounded totally different than others, which tells me that the condition of the circuitry and caps is probably the most important variable.

Sanyo made the best sounding and most modestly powered amps in that late 70s-very early 80s before everything turned to **** for Sanyo and many others.

My 720 sounds more powerful than any of the numerous M9998s I’ve compared it to.
The M9998s for some reason don’t seem to have aged as graciously as the later MX series models.

I own a m-x 920 since a few weeks , but it is a great tip that the 720 sounds better. Can't tell by the looks of the 720 though

I don't have any other boomers to compare with, but the Sanyo 920 I just finished restoring sounds very good...
Lots of volume, great highs and lows on Line In (CD), FM stereo and, of course, a good quality cassette.

This is my first, so I kinda like it!
