My house has seen some recent changes in order to fit/display my collection more effectively. This has been coming for quite some time as when my collection hit around 50 space became a genuine issue. Of course thinning the collection isn't even close to being a realistic option as theres many, many more I plan on adding, so I set about to renovate my living room.
As evidenced in the work-in-prgoress picture below the corner of my room that was the problem had two very large sets of windows.
The part of the house I use as my living room was originally designed as a sun room. The idea was to remove the sets of windows and wall them in. The above photo was taken just after the windows were removed and the first part of the wall was going up. This took a couple of weeks to complete as the walls are made up of outside weatherboards, then the wall in the above picture, then insulation, then another layer of wood followed by the interior panelling to be the final layer. Extra support beams were also attached inside the walls as they were being made to make sure the new shelving was secure and strong.
With all this work done I found a wonderful new retro lounge suite on ebay that suited my room and decor perfectly. The shelving was then organised after a month or thereabouts I've got the results pictured below.
Get ready to rock!
I'm very pleased with the results and find myself marvelling at the beauty of these classics every day. Nothing beats having groups of these beauties together. My M-90 is connected to my mac and the Teac V-95RX is doing all my recording duties. Best of all I can easily power up any box now and enjoy them as is my want now which is marvellous fun.
The rest of my living room is almost finished and i'll take some photos of that and do some collection update photos as soon as it's all done as theres a few radios I've added over the last month I've not had the pleasure of sharing with the Brotherhood yet.
Hope you guys enjoy!
Rock On.
