Promotional boxed set of seven TDK tapes made in Japan. Cassettes tapes are housed in their own die-cut foam inlays!

They were used to show vendors the upcoming lines of cassettes available at the time in 1982.

Very cool! But, the MA-R is the only one of those tapes that matters to me. The rest might be great-quality tapes, but looks are more important to me

Given the recent prices of cassettes that doesn't seem too bad.

I don't know a lot about tape prices, though they seem particularly high at the moment......

Taking averages of past prices, I'd say the actual book (minus the cassettes) add close to $150-170 to the price - even more if you do the BIN. That's quite a premium, but I've never ever seen one of those promotional items.

Imagine being the rep, and changing out all the tapes for MA-R, then showing them to your buyers....

"This is our current lineup for this year........"

Very cool set! That is something that will surely end up with a serious tape collector.

IMHO, The 1982 TDK cassette line up was the best looking of all TDKs. And with the exception of the D, they all sound pretty much outstanding.

I have examples of every single one of those here with my own recordings on them and I love them all. Aside of the MA-R's that I got from ebay a couple years ago, most of my '82 TDKs came from thrift stores for dimes and quarters. I recorded over what was on them using good tape decks and they sound rich and detailed. I listen to them all the time.

30 years ago, who would have ever thought that cassettes and their lineage would be scrutinized and appreciated by collectors and tapeheads, much like wine and cigars? :w00t:

Wow thats look amazing. :agree: about the price - sounds fair. Im collecting the tapes but im mostly after the look too. But some "serious" collector must score em. Its not a bad price and never seen such thing :w00t: . IMO ill go after some reels for that price but this deal is so  . If i have the spare money i would jump in  .
