Hey guys,
I've gt a Sound 3030D which is pretty much a Hitachi TRK-9140

The power switch is broken and I want to replace it with the OSC switch. The problem is that I haven't managed ti detach the tape door, which means I can't take the guts out of the case. Does anyone know how the door is removed?

Thanks

It's an old pic... I think I had the meter switched to battery/radio reception - anyway, actually the meters are alright :-)

Just for remember: I have a parts box waiting for you. Let me know, if you want it. Otherwise i will trash it away next time! Need space... :-/

There is no need to remove the tape door for any dismantling of this model. If the power switch is on top like the TRK-9140, you need to remove the back of the unit, then gently prize out (from the top if the unit is face down) the top control panel.

The power switch is then easily accessible.

I've just had mine apart today. If you want to 'pull the guts out', just remove the 4 screws (2 on each side of the unit). You then can remove the back panel and top control panel Then disconnect the 4 speaker wires, aerial wires and power supply wires. The whole internal componentry can then be removed as a complete unit. The tape door will stay affixed to the outer casing.

It's a nice simple design when you work it out.

The Sound 3030D has it's power switch on the front. I removed all screws but something seemed to hold the inner stuff back... gotta look into it another time.
Roman, check your PM ;-)

Sorry, I didn't realise the units were so different. On the TRK-9140, after removing the back cover + the side screws (4) and top control panel & knobs, the only thing holding the internal structure from being released from the outer case are the speaker wires, aerial wires and power supply wires.

The tape door on the 9140 is only removable from the case from inside via 4 or 5 screws.
Again, maybe the 3030D has a completely different design arrangement.

Good luck,

James... :-)
