Hello all, new to forum.

I have just bought this box, all is well except the tape does not work at all. Upon first inspection the pause button seems not to be working properly, the light is constantly on. I took the unit apart today and discovered that all belts had melted, leaving me with a day's work cleaning up. After about 50 buds and the remains of my missus's nail polish remover it's still dirty but a hell of a lot better.

Seems to be a lot conflicting info on the belts required for this beast, cannot seem to find a reasonably price kit in the UK either?

The pause button seems to be stuck "in" the white plastic is not in line with the other buttons, but cannot see an issue that is stopping it? So now I have no belts, unit is back together, pause is on red and play doe snot depress! any help?! Cheers

The button area can be opened up and then readjusted and put back. It is so difficult to put the front cover without removing the whole section of the button cover, align the wires from the switches not to interfere with the soft touch play mode control buttons.

The connecting wires wire must be caught in between the front button and the inside pause lever. It drove me crazy when I was trying to put the front cover without opening the switch cover.

You don't need to take the door out for servicing. Leave the door open when you remove the front cover with speakers. Touch control plug will also unplug when you remove the front cover. If you grab the lower middle part of the touch control cover face upward and pull it out to the front, that section will come out so that you can unplug the short leads for the touch control buttons.

Yes i've popped the buttons out at the front and detached the cable. Then I have removed the cassette door. Then taken the unit apart and removed the tape mechanism. It is not the outer pause button that is stuck in, it is the innner "white" actual pause button that is stuck in. Cannot see how to release it.

Did you replace all the belts and reset the deck mechanism?
If you change all belts and then slowly move the flywheel it will reset the the deck. Then try to release the pause button.
Also try to lube the metal moving parts of the deck.
I cannot recollect of pause button getting stuck on my 8600s.

Order a range of belts from cpc online.
There is a leaf switch in the bottom left corner I believe. There are a few other leaf switches too. Check them all.
This deck is prone to sticking due to old grease.
Turn the capstan while in position to see if it resets. It has a specific orientation gear wise, trial and error at that point i’m afraid.
