I was asked to look at an Hitachi 8190e for my friends son. It had a number of issues which I'd fixed but the auto stop function was playing up.
The problem turned out to be dried-up grease on the auto stop lever assembly (Part No.30 in the service manual) located under the fly-wheel.
I couldn't release the assembly to dismantle it and clean properly as the retaining nut rounded off (red circle).
So after I removed what I could of the old grease I carefully coated it in machine oil to soften the remnants of the grease. After leaving it to soak for 10 minutes and jiggling it back and forwards I managed to free the assembly up, then applied fresh grease. The auto stop now works well in all directions and play.
