Hey guys,

Pretty new here, not new to boomboxes but new to restorations.
Had a few back in the 80s and probably the best one was a wicked 3 piece with wood speakers
A SABA RCP 690 that sadly got stolen.

Anyway a few weeks ago I picked up an absolute bargain. I was looking on Gumtree here in Melbourne Australia and saw this Hitachi TRK-7620 that was free. An old guy in his 60s living on a golf course had it. Anyway I picked it up straight away and the thing works!
The aerial is missing so that will need fixing, and the volume sliders are really stiff but they do slide,
All speakers work, no corrosion in the battery area at all, all switches work, the line in and mic in and mix mic all work.
I can't test the tape deck as I can't find any of my old tapes and don't have any blanks.

I need to know how to fix the stuff volume sliders and also when I turn it up it sort of crackles but it's not a crackle, hard to explain, maybe loose or dry connections but it could've just been the cable I was connecting to it from my iPhone to.

Anyway here it is, not too bad condition wise!

Nice piece you got there, mine also had snapped aerial, but even worse- the whole mast and retainer was gone, i had serious trouble getting new one here, but finally found one that kinda fitted and without too much modifications it now receives and plays everything. Good luck on this one, looking forward seeing the result
