Yeah it is a great box Smeats, I think it's the best 3D ever made  never heard of susumu though lol :-D

Definitely one of the better lookers but not the best sounding. The older models with the single bass driver have more bass and power.

James.... :-)
I am only going off what I have heard from other members, it's certainly the best I have heard so far James

Wowsers that's some price! It's a nice 3D...only got a 3D7 myself but I like it :-)
Yeah it's big money for a 3D, your 3D7 is the minty boxed one if memory serves me right Si? it's a beauty

I've had a 3D80 that I got when I worked for Rumbelows as a teenager. Nice light show but plastic handle in that era. Also not quite as good acoustically as the Panasonic Platinums around the same time. The JVC 'PC' series Hyper Bass Port models were a little classier too. IMHO of course!

That EBay price surprises me...

I've heard the two side by side and this earlier model sounded the strongest. The long throw centre speaker is huge on the 3D8W! IMHO, the 3D8W is heavier with better build quality but not as modern or nice looking as the 3D80! :-)View attachment 16826

I have a 3D8 and it has very good bass. But there's one thing that I absolutely hate about Hitachi 3Ds - I just can't get over the permanently attached power cord which has to be stored in the battery compartment. It's truly awful! :annoyed:

I quiet like mine Luke it has a nice red Hitachi plug on it  I know what you mean though, it can get a bit annoying putting it back in
