High Frequency Sickness

Today I decided to make a mixed tape of some techno music. Not wanting to sacrifice a metal or Chrome tape I just used Type I normal bias.

To help things out I ran the signal through my EQ and fed it to my deck. I wanted the treble to be crisp so I elevated that a little.

Now after listening to it through my Walkman I feel sick and dizzy. Is it possible for a tape to create such high frequencies as to make you sick? My ears aren't ringing or anything and I wasn't cranking the volume on my walkman but I feel sick and dizzy after listening to my tape.

Can a tape produce frequencies too high to hear that could make you sick? Either that or a coincidence.

This must've been a fluke because I feel better now. I'm guessing coincidence. I'm really happy with my recording though. The treble might be a little on the strong side but it's not distorting. I figure you can always reduce the treble knob but you can't add treble to a muffled recording.

The JVC TD-W354 deck did a really good job on this tape. It sounds like a Metal Bias tape as far as clarity and crispness. I ran it through my EQ, Biased the tape and adjusted recording level at the limit for a Type I position. It's crisper than a store purchased release. If you put the selector on CrO2 or Metal it actually takes it down to a "normal" treble level. The issue with my Walkman was it has no such settings so I was getting all that treble full force which I guess my ears didn't like close rang with the headphones.

Speaking of Normal Bias
<--------Wonder when my member status will ever get to CrO2 or something higher? Tired of being Type I.... :angelic:

I'm with you on this: I USED TO open a pack of Sour Cream & Onion and found I couldn't stop munching them until the whole pack was eaten and, boy, did I feel gippy afterwards every time. These days I don't and won't go near them.
