Hi! I recently found my old JVC M90 in the back of my attic. I've owned it for 41 years! The radio works and I ordered a replacement tuner knob, but the tape deck has issues, and I'm missing the metal trim piece across the top of the tuner. So, I'll be doing some searching through old posts, and I may have some questions. Hopefully, this site will be a good resource for me!

Awesome!.
I've owned one since 1986.
I did see angled aluminium at Lowe's that is a good replacement for the strip above the tuner. It's a little thicker but it's a good easy fix.
These aluminium strips are impossible to find either you make one or use something that looks close.
The one you have looks great. Especially the tweeter trims and hardly no wear and the woofer color looks great..

I join these forums over 18 years ago because my tape deck in my M90 stopped working but with the help of the community I was able to get new belts to put on the tape deck which solved the problem I can't guarantee that's the problem but I think after sitting after 40 years that's a good place to start.

I put a tape in and it played but sounded really bad and was dragging. I cleaned the heads and blew out dust out with compressed air, and it sounded better but then stopped and wouldn't release the cassette. I managed to get it out, but I think the heads are stuck in the play position.

Sounds like the belt is slipping and they can't hold the heads up in place I'm telling you a new pair of belts would help this thing massively. It's a small price to pay for the return luckily it's doing that much sometimes these tape decks are dead because the resistor on the tape deck motor Burns Out. You can manually turn the main flywheel on this to get the heads back down I would do it after you put the belts on they'll pop down once you spin it around a few times from behind the tape deck.

I've replaced the M90 belts from behind without removing the tape deck it's not the easiest way but you can do it

It's a guy on Ebay that has a original tuner knob and he has some top trim pieces you have to ask him about the trim piece I bought 1 from him it's good quality I have a extra 1 but it's promised to another guy

A good friend of mine made me 2 so I don't have any either aside from the ones I have. I appreciate it.

A simple 45 degree bend strip is easy to make but won't look good.
There are two 45 degree angle bends at ~2.0mm wide, at the 90 degree angle that makes the strip making very challenging without the right tools. Have I done it? Yes I have made those myself. At that time I was the R&D Manager of a huge research facility and could use all the tools there. I had to make like 8 of them to get one right, without any scuff marks of scratches. I got the brushed Aluminum sheet from Home Depot and used it for making the trim.
