Hey All.
I'm David Spero, new to the board, old to da boombox culture. Hello.
I've been into boxes since the early 70's. My Dad picked up a JVC AM/FM Cassette for his field recordings. I'd hijack his prized JVC box every night. I Man - Just the idea of carrying my music outside for my own private listening experience...
I'm a JVC late 70's, early 80's box addict. A box without shortwave doesn't boom for me...
So - sorry to bore ya, but Boombox Culture is my religion. I'm open to all views, opinions, and most importantly makin' new friends.

"Are speakers built to take the strain?"

Cheers!

Muchas Gracias for the warm welcome!
Yep - I guess I should lift an ear anytime someone calls out Victor with a thick Nippon accent. "Woof Woof!"
I've been composing & engineering music (dub, weirdness, poetry, comedy, experimental) for 30 yrs.. BTW - I'm 42, so I ain't dat old!

Check me out at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/davidsperopeligr ... /playlists
Also got some digital downloads at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/DavidSperoPeligro1

I just scored a JVC RC 363 JW... Made in Signapore in maybe '85?. Odd smaller box (16" Lx 8" H x 3") W - with some unusual small box features. Shortwave/ AM/FM Mic in's / speaker outs, mono, stereo, biphonic, beat cut, monitor setting, 5 led's. (battery, VU, Rec, FM St, Biphonic/Wide) 4" full range speakers, silver plastik / chrome finishes, antenna intact, - and - the owner's manual to boot. What's weird & very cool is how JVC recommends using resistor loaded cable outputs on the speakers output for "line out" and the same for Microphone in's as "line inputs".

Style's good, uniform stuff. Loud - Sounds good - full range speakers do it (they rock in biphonic), cassette rec/playback good,
FM - just ok, not too accurate, stereo led is hard to sync with strong signals, AM - ok, SW - sensitive, good.
I'm gonna use this box to hit the beach & thrash.

U guys got any new boxes?

Cheers

Conions are flashy

Lasonics are huge

Sonys and Panasonics are for the masses

but JVCs just ARE! Got a couple myself.
