Welcome along.... :-)

This is THE place for help, advice and to share opinions / experiences of these fantastic machines!!

The Sharp GF-555 is a decent enough box to start a collection, and good luck with getting it all ship-shape :surf:

YEAH, BABY!

Welcome to the Worldwide Getto Massive!

The GF-555 is an ideal starter box. I don't have one myself, but I do have other big double-cassette boomers made by Sharp.

I hope that you can get that box going....You'll enjoy the sound that will come from this system.

We have a new member from the UK branch of the Worldwide Getto Massive. Rock On!

:-) Thanks for the welcome. I'm in Liverpool by the way. Everything works great on the stereo apart from the cassettes unravel on play. Even got a nice clear sound from the cassette for a couple of seconds. I've downloaded a pdf file on changing belts on the Sharp GF-777 and i'm hoping its gonna be similar to the GF-555. What do you guys think? :hmmm:

Are you sure it's the belt(s)? Tape unravelling on these is usually a sign of the classic 'Sharp rubber capstan drive disintegrating' scenario. The result is that the take up spool does not turn or turns intermittently hence the chew up.
