I just picked up a panasonic rx-f35 from a local flea market for 15 american, and was looking for some info on it, like year, and selling price. This place seemed to be the best to ask

Hi!

oh and FYI, I'd also like to eventually over-ride the circuit that keeps the sound coming from the speakers when the ext. speakers are plugged in. The externals are going to come from a sharp boombox that has the detachable side speakers. I'm just now getting into boom boxes, but ultimately, I would like to possible mod a boombox, and put an ipod dock into one.

I've been collecting polaroids for around 8 years, and it seems like I'm switching over to radios now :-/

Congrats on the Panny, the RX-F35 is a unique and good box well worth the $15 you paid if it's in decent or better shape. For $15 I would have snapped it up as well.

Thanks all, but the tape deck on the panasonic sometimes gets stuck in the up position (dont exactly know the correct term, but you can physically push the heads, and wheel down). I have already taken it apart twice yesterday to see what the problem was, and couldn't find anything. I had a similar problem with the fisher but it turned out to be belt slippage, which was easily fixed. I've given up on trying to fix the panasonic, although it will continue to annoy me, with not having a fully functional radio :annoyed: .

But anyways, thanks for the welcome, and I'll be stopping by as much as I can (I was debating on whether to do a custom job, and put woodgrain over one of these boxes, so if I do, I'll be sure to upload pictures of it).

Hey, did you try some white lithium grease in there when you took it apart? It's pretty lovely that sometimes, that is all the well-built 80's stuff needs.

I have some wax based lube that I've been using for various things, it's so safe you can eat the stuff. It lubed it up until i got it all put back together, then the deck was stuck again. I took it back apart and got it down, and haven't touched it since. It seems like its an electronic thing, because with the power unplugged it doesn't complete the pause function (you can see tabs from the window in the deck with the power on, but nothing when its off). I'm probably going to break it down again this weekend to see if I can identify anything electrical. I'm in college right now and can only work on them when I don't have homework :(.

Having the internal speakers on with external speakers connected would very bad for the amp, that's why the get disconnected. The ohms rating would be too low and the amp could burn out.
Nice "in the wild find" by the way, they are cool boxes.
