Hello,

I am looking for some help with an issue i am having with my Hitachi TRK-7100E.

It seems to be a right channel/speaker issue.

Sound will come through both speakers in radio mode for AM/FM. But when i try to play a cassette tape i get only sound through the left speaker, when i try to adjust the volume control for the right speaker it sounds dead. All i get is static. It seems to only happen in stereo mode, if i slide the selector to Mono, it will come through both speakers, it only happens on stereo mode. I thought it might be a head issue so i used rubbing alcohol to clean the head but still same problem.

sounds like the controls need a cleaning and lube . also might want to press play/rec- stop a few times in a row to work the record bar back and forth. working the controls should clear up some static , won't clear it all but it's a start.

Thanks for your reply JVC Floyd. I opened the box up and sprayed some Electronic Cleaner into the Record bar arm a few times. It worked amazingly well! So nice to have stereo sound now when i'm playing some Black Sabbath. Seems the only other problem is the REC/BATTERY light is out. Hoping it just a quick fix of the red diode, have to see when i get more time to fiddle with it. What i find interesting about this box though is the sound quality i have a Panasonic RX-5005, it's a bigger box but the sound quality is just not the same. I think Panasonic might have cheeped out on the speakers.
