This is from a bmw board I frequent. I posted up the traveling tape audio and someone commented about an old boombox he had.

Damn, 77? That was the birth of the boombox right there. Maybe an rs-66 or 4300? Back then they were normally tagged as National. If you have a Panasonic tagged box from the 70's its probably worth some coin now. I have a couple panny's but they are newer, from the "golden age" around 81-86

Does not appear to be either of those. It was blackand silver, quite large, and had some machined round pole toggle switches - it was a top of the line model.

and I remember it had round bars that came out like tube bumpers from top to bottom to protect the speaker mesh had it fallen over.

Oh,a nd it had meters - like needles that swung with the sound - I guess they were mic levels or something. It's been a long time.

Oops, It was a Pioneer!

That's an 80's box though

if that's it, it would probably sell for anywhere from 500-750 now. It was 700 new, lol. Possibly one of the greatest boomboxes there ever was.

I've been searching all day now as I really want to know which it was again. I remebered a few other details. The carry handle was full length, not a center handle. And the grill protectors were tubular and went from top to bottom but only in the speaker area. They didn't extend the whole front like the one you showed. It was heavy and if I recall used a lot of metal.
Also, is there a possibility that it could have had removable wooden panels on the sides? I could be bugging out about that one.

The Panasonic: It's the RQ-4350.

The other: Conion C-100 or akas. Helix and Clairtone had one with just different badge.
