Greetings to all,

Just recently bought a Philips D8614 - My dream machine from the 80´s.
Bought it relatively cheap as the tape deck was not working.

So I have started to open the box to inspect the thing.
At least one plastic gear has turned into semi-rubber substance. Have ordered new ones on Ebay.

I will be posting pictures + more in the Restoration & Customization forum later.

I have the service manual, but if you have any inputs / tips & tricks on how-to .... I would be happy to hearing from you guys.

Take care

Brgds

Hello and :hi: to forum.
Тhis box is nice, but like all Philips mechanics, there are weak parts that need to be replaced.
Good luck with restoration.

Yep, the yellow cheese gears must be replaced. Also change the belts and adjust the speed. Take a lot of pictures of every step you take would be my advice. Good luck. Nice deck. I did the job with my D8634 wich is equal to the 8614

I missed out on a Conion C126 in Copenhagen. My sister whose living there refused to pick it up for me.
It was only £100 :bang:
