Hi everyone, awesome site. Tired of ending up with cheap crap digital models that ended up breaking, not getting good signals, cheap sound etc. I then started looking for the solid state "good ole day" radios I grew up with as a kid in the 70's. I used to take them apart and found them fascinating, but never put things back right lol. Looking to learn more about restoring, collecting and/or selling for parts. My first purchase Sony CF-420. Tape buttons only stay down about 5 seconds, otherwise work...Thinking maybe auto-stop function??

Usually old radios need good cleaning and replacing the belts of cassette deck.
You need to open up and see what's going on inside.

Play without a tape. If it stays on, most likely needs a cleaning and/or new belt.
