Hello there,
I've recently discovered this forum after searching for a model that my wife parted with when we moved house about 10 years ago. We'd both had big radios when we were teenagers but either left them at home or sold them off...except for the one yellow one that she kept until relatively recently. I'd love to surprise her with a good second one, just for fun. I've got a big box full of tapes, (hell LP's too!) that get less and less play as our vehicles have less and less capacity to allow us to enjoy them. 'Tis a shame.

I had a silver coloured Radio Shack monster that I'll have to search a bit to name. That machine punched above its weight for the quality and volume of sound.

Welcome aboard, tikka! The big yellow boombox might have been the Magnavox D8300. They pop up fairly often on eBay, so you just might be able to get one for the wife. :-D

I like taht avatar Alan. Heck, there goes my spelling.
I live in NW Ontario now.

Thank you for the welcome all.

Badboybill you are the man! Wow, that's a step back in time...that is the machine. i used to listen to that at night using big headphones.
Anyone else remember Doctor Demento? He used to broadcast in Canada and the US on Sunday nights.

I should clarify that my wife had a Sony CFS-930. I had a bid in on one recently through ebay and lost out by 50 cents. I can't believe it slipped away. I think I'll be upset for awhile yet. I guess that will make finding it all the more sweeter.
As the expression goes, all good things come to those who wait.

I still can't believe you folk were able to pick out that silver monster from my brief description. Amazing.
