Hi, new to the forum here. I've been intrigued by old school boomboxes for as long as I can remember, but just recently started doing any real research into them after spending all of Memorial Day weekend checking out the PocketCalculator.com boombox museum and other sites. I am excited to be a part of the community! Which brings me to my first problem.....

I NEED A BOOMBOX! :annoyed:

I've been trolling ebay for a few days, almost bought a Panasonic RX-5080, but got outbid. I'm really into both the older, thinner, one-piece units for their awesome portability, looks, and build quality.
Hovever, I am also a huge fan of later systems with lots of gizmos and flash (especially spectrum analyzers - I love the Panasonic RX-c300).

Above all, I love boomboxes that just have that unique something that gives them a character all their own. Also, sound quality is pretty important to me.

Anyway, once again, it's great to be here, and if anyone has suggestions for a good first box to hunt for, preferably without killing my wallet, please let me know!

Thanks everyone.

welcome  you picked the right place...There are many one piecers available. Some are large, some small and many medium sized. 1st of all do you want a complete 100% working and minty unit. If so you may end up paying high $$$$$. Or you can go with a decent unit needing a tuneup and cleaning and possible rebelt of deck/decks and that might be more reasonable :-D Just take your time and do research...and Good Luck :w00t:
