Hi, New Boomboxery member, longtime audio collector.
Growing up through the 70's and 80's, it was pretty inevitable that boomboxes would be something on the major want list. Part of the definition of cool, if you had one of the desirables, you were the heart of the party wherever you happened to be.
As a kid, I had a trusty Sanyo that I took everywhere. It wasn't top tier, or even mid, but it did duty admirably for what it was.
Today, with a bit more funds to play with, and as part of a vintage audio habit disguised as a hobby, I've been able to snag a few boxes along the way that I would have drooled over as a kid and most certainly love having today...
a JVC PC-R550;
The clunky named Sharp Multi-Purpose Music System HK 9000 Boombox, (one of which is in the Smithsonian Museum) and...
an Aiwa CS-660.
All of them need some degree of repair of refurbishment, but even just as eyecandy, they are lotsa fun to have.
Looking forward to learn about and have some fun seeing what all everyone has, is working on and enjoying.
