"Hej" is Swedish for hello
I recently felt very strongly that I needed a proper old-school boombox or "bergsprängare" (literally the Swedish word for a profession I think is called "rock blaster" in English) as we called them here back in the day. Call it a mid life crisis if you want.
I remembered the iconic M90 and started searching for that on local auction sites, not sure if I really wanted such a big machine but just starting out with something. Didn't find that (and yes, since then I've noted how sought after it is) but I found an JVC RC-M70(L) that seemed in decent working shape. So I bought it, and today it arrived and I'm happy. Could use a bit of cleaning but everything (lights, speakers, sliders, both power options, cassette player with all functions, radio, phono input) works more or less. It has a nice blue LED mod of the level dials. Biggest issue would be the radio frequency indicator being a bit out of position and not always wanting to follow the tuning action in the left direction. And one of the antennas is a bit broken (top section is loose and the base swivels around too easily). And the strap was not included, as expected.
So I googled for other people interested in these old machines and found this place!
