Have you ever found functions on your boombox that you hadn`t realised were there?

I was giving my Aiwa TPR 950 a light clean up this morning and when I was cleaning the swtches and knobs I suddenly realised you could alter the manual recording level independently for the left and right channels !!
Considering I bought one of these new as a teenager and used to record stuff virtually daily (usually from the radio ) I felt extremely foolish that I hadn`t paid attention to the little graphic to the left of the knob
I often used the manual setting too so I`ve no idea

Up until now I`d considered myself reasonably versed on basic audio /hifi stuff but I can`t believreI had my original unit for over 20 years and didn`t notice it.
Has anyone else suddenly discovered hidden in plain sight functions on their treasures ?

I know it smacks you right in the face but the JVC PC-55/ 550 have a sleep timer switch on the cassette deck. Like a typical teen I just wanted to play some music and not read the instructions. Every evening before bed I'd listen to music before sleeping and kept alert enough to shut it off manually every night until I decided to check out what this button did. Low and behold it was like finding money in a pocket of an old jacket. Pathetic...I know550-9.jpg

Ha ha..that's a good one.The 950 has a really simply timer..it just runs until the end of whatever tape length is playing and switches off the radio if that's what you're listening too. Took me a while to suss that one out too.
