Has anyone ever received a boombox package this way?

When I received this package (with no outer box) needless to say I was horrified and thoughts of a badly damaged boombox filled my mind. To my surprise, nothing was damaged and everything works, including the tape deck.. :-D I have a new found respect for the Canadian and U.S. postal services....I know for a fact that UPS would have trashed this box.

Now, I've seen it all. I wrap my boxes that way all the time. The only difference is that I put that INTO a box.

I would have much preferred what you received than the empty box I recently received.

so that's what you were waiting to arrive via canadian post, alvinm. i'll bet that's a huge stress reliever seeing it survived the trip in great shape. looks like a keeper! :-D

yeah superduper, i'm sure you would have much rather received a bubble wrapped cocoon boombox instead of the empty cardboard box. kinda makes you wonder if jamescyberjoe even used any bubble. :annoyed:

It had to have been handled gently because even though theres plenty of bubble wrap, I could feel the edges of the boombox if I dug into the wrapping enough. Must have been placed upright during the whole trip down here.

I don't think I'm sticking my neck out by saying that your boombox survived intact "IN SPITE OF" and not "BECAUSE OF" the way it was packed. Luck probably had a lot to do with it. It could have just as easily arrived damaged. Bubble wrap pops easily, with just a bit of pressure like from the corner of the box. That's why having an exterior box to spread the load is so important. If it was me, I'm not rushing to leave glowing feedback on that one, although I probably wouldn't leave any feedback at all since it's intact and unscathed and a neg would be unfair.

Its funny because the postal carrier who dropped it off said, "Man, someone did an awesome job wrapping it." I was like, "Are you kidding me?" Its true though, luck had a big role in this box getting here the way it did.

As far as feeedback, I did leave a positive but made a comment recommending the seller to use and outer cardboard box for electronics...

I thought I had seen everything when I saw how Ira shipped a wooden battery door without a box. But to ship something that big with no box?? I didn't even know that was allowed. :-O

Glad to see that it arrived okay.

The Post Office will accept almost anything. I've shipped tires send with nothing more than a label wrapped around it. However, if you wish to file a damage claim.... it MIGHT become a problem.
