This one works on any cassette deck. As long as you can raise and lower heads deck doesn't have to work. It has good range and great sound.

that’s just the issue guys, the one I’m looking at will need belt replacements, until I can take care of that (and believe me I will because I can’t stand a boombox with a deck that doesn’t work) I will need to find an alternative.

Still looking I see. Well, get a Bluetooth dongle and connect it to line-in. Cheap and easy.
