Well this weekend it was hard rubbish collection in my neighborhood. Found these 2 not far from home buried in amongst trash on the nature strip.. The panasonic is pretty much in perfect condition and even the tape player works! MAN! It sounds pretty damn fine for a smaller unit. Might be my new go to box!

Sankei powers up but it's not showing much love..

All in all I'd have to say a pretty good way to end the weekend!

I still can't believe people throw these away.
That Panasonic might be small but its loud ,sounds great and is built like a tank.

I think the Big Grin says it all! :-D

How on earth folk can just throw such things away totally eludes me. Given that 'One man's rubbish is another man's fortune' even a Numpty Of The 1st Order could have considered items such as these may have a value to someone. I can understand if the person discarding these didn't want to take money for the items or profit from the disposal of them but why not at least try and donate them? Given the amount of TV programs such as Dog The Bounty Hunter and others with themes along the lines of Dog and Animal Rescuers, Car Restoration etc,. etc, I'd suggest one for consideration would be something along the lines of The BoomBox Rescue Squad.

Heck yeah man.

I have to say, you'll probably be surprised with that Panasonic. If it's working the way it should, it brings a much wider and filling sound with Ambience on than a few boxes twice its size. Motorized feather touch controls and allows a manual review or cue through songs on the tape.

I will say that the Sankei looks cool. I dont know a whole lot about that brand so not sure how they sound but I'd put my bet on the Panny

MOM: Totally agree! I can understand if it was in terrible condition, broken into pieces or just simply destroyed but the panasonic is in 90% mint working condition.. surely they would try to donate it at least. I guess some people simply don't care for our passions. We really should start a rescue organization.. hehehe

The Panasonic works perfectly 😮😮🤤.. This one is the rx-5055,I think it as only a couple of cosmetic changes compared with the 5050. I'll try today to take some better pics today.
In regards to the ambience sound mode (wide/spatial etc) I've never been a big fan of that mode.. but I honestly have to say I like the way they have nailed the setting on this one.. it might have to stay switched on all the time. Its soo soo good and yeah the full logic controls work perfectly and smoothly.

I think you put it best in one of your post, it's the librarian with glasses and hair tied up... turn it on...

Just imagine if you could track all the Hard rubbish pickups council by council. But that would be illegal as all items are owned by the council once placed on the footpath, unless you get permission from the owner!

but isnt that music mixer box coolest design ever?? ?
I do quite like the design also. I know it's a hit and miss for a lot of the folks on here but I think it will scrub up very nice.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, it really does feel like you are saving them... to think they would end up crushed to pieces or just buried in a landfill somewhere. It's so sad that people have a disposable attitude with a lot of valuable items
