This thing only had a 48 hour/300 mile trip, and guy used tape to cover box holes and I can see the radio corners. Can you see the horrible crack in the case? Ouch. What a dummy!
Boxes are really rare in my part of the US,so most either get shipped here or I have to drive far.
This is killing me how bad folks pack a vintage item.I havn't even opened the box. Maybe after a beer.haha.
Oh well. I got one this week that took a month from Germany packed perfectly.

Sanyo M-X650K. Crack in case side is barely noticeable. Lucky. All working but needs play belt. And found all but one toggle cap in the box.
It has great sound so I can live with it.
Anyone got a single toggle for this? Didn't think so. Haha.

Sorry to see this. While it doesnt always help, I always leave a message in the "note to seller" section on ebay, to pack it well.

..so the last seller I bought from said:
SELLER DOES NOT COVER CARRIER DAMAGE OR MISHANDLING ~ THANKS!

so I put in the notes:
These are like eggshells. Please pack the speakers separately in bubblewrap, and wrap everything at least 2 inches thick.

Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't. But at least you can then nail them to the wall when they pack the box with items from the kitchen waste basket.

Nice box RadioActive, thanks for the pics.Sorry I don't have a toggle for your near grail.Hell I don't have anything near that awesome in my collection.I would imagine one of the more senior members would possibly have one you could purchase.Maybe somebody like Nikonfoo might have some for sale, don't know for sure.He seems to be the man when it comes to procuring parts like that.

Yeah, they always seem apologetic. This guy offered whatever I feel fair.It was a good deal and it's not too bad so I'll probably just ask for $15 for a belt & glue.ha

Such a shame as its a beauty. I always message sellers and explain that I collect these and that they're easily breakable and ask them really nice to box them up with lots of padding...it usually works.

Congrats on a great Sanyo tho :-)

Another act of criminality. It truly beggars belief that anyone would even consider sending any fragile or delicate item in this manner. :bang:

Ouch.

I won a Hitachi 3D88 on ebay and didn't trust the post to ship it from Ontario Canada to Los Angeles without damaging it. Also, you just never know with the sellers. I've seen posts on here that showed a box just shrink wrapped with a postcard as the address label. Yikes!

Anywho, sent it to my cousin one town over from the seller and asked my cousin to make sure it was packed in a box with packing peanuts. She sent me pictures including the receipt, so I sent her $200 for her time and trouble.

I'm waiting for a boombox from Spain. I fear how that one will fare getting here.
