Hi Everyone! I am a 33 year old who just can't ditch the 80's kid, living out in Perth, Western Australia.
I am about to take the plunge into the world of boomboxes and thought this would be the perfect place to sign up!
I still have hundreds of tapes from the golden age and can't wait to get them going again :-D

Welcome, you should contact AZA if you want some boxes.

There is about 3 other members from WA on here, two of them are hardcore collectors so good luck in finding anything over that side :-D

It's gone a bit quiet on this side of the country recently, but some boxes have gone cheap on eprey

Hi Tshorba,
Thanks for the welcome and the heads up for the other WA guys. I have found a couple of boxes out here over the years but they have always been trashed.
I will defenitley contact AZA. He sounds like the man out here.
Thanks again!

G'Day mate and welcome :surf:

now when you start looking at the boxes on here, then the next time you go out your eyes will be trained to look for them - it might be just a handle or a speaker but you will start THE HUNT

good luck now go see what you can find :breakdance:

cheers B

Thanks for the tips peoples.
I am a big op shop/thrift store visitor (at least twice a week) but i never seem to find boxes.
I think i need to start hitting the swap meets and flea markets again really soon.
Judging by what a couple of the Perth people on this board find out here, it seems as though i have to get proactive!

Thanks Tshorba, but being a new member it looks like i don't have enough posts to access the buy and sell section of the forums yet.
I'll just have to hang around and get involved in discussions until i can check it out.

Flea markets/carboots as we call them are a good hunting ground - but be aware boxes can bring in money for the right one, and the dealers know this - they hunt them down just to put on ebay with a mark up - get in there first

Cheers Tshorba.
There is a local Sharp GF-515 that i am going to inspect within the next few days. It's in top cosmetic condition with it's original box and manual.
The only problems are that tape deck 1 doesn't work and the on/off switch remains in the on position. Does this seem like a fair deal for $175 and how hard is it to get these repaired?

Welcome sandgropper
you are just in time for our first Perth meet
we are looking at a saturday evening or sunday after the swap meets
so hope fully you can clean out my chook shed
pm me your info and we can talk more
first get the 9998 for $100
if you dont have one but if you have one give him $20
the 515 is abit pricy if your not a cardboard collector
give him $50 for the 515 and $50 for the cardboard
or wait and the price of these will drop for you
