Hi,

My name is Jim and I joined this forum with the need for some assistance in the community. I recently acquired my deceased brother's Panasonic RX C60 portable and need to resource parts or a good tech or advice to get the left channel working as well as the belts in the tape mechanism going again. I'm mechanical and handy enough to be a DIYer and all. The radio has allot of sentimental issues with me first-hand since it was owned from a prior brother as well who had passed 3 years earlier. I don't believe in bad karma but I had rescued this from the latter brother's estate garbage can. Long-story but I'm happy to get this thing back. Sorry for the long- winded, and somewhat depressing, noob intro. Looking forward to becoming an active member here.. Thanks!

Welcome... sorry about your brother...

one of the 1st things to do is get a can of deoxit switch and pot cleaner. Then take apart box making sure you know where screws go. Next clean as much diet from inside box. I would spray small amounts of deoxit into switch and pot holes and work each one back n forth for bit so cleaner gets deep down to get rid of dirt and such. This hopefully will cure problems with your speakers have little to know sound ...

Belts are a bit more difficult but can be done. Trying to take deck out is easiest. Usually a plate covers the belts and wheels. The plate needs to be removed for access to belts. If you think you can handle this then you can move on to rebelt unit. Ask for any help along way

Welcome aboard, Jim. Please post technical questions in the Tech Talk section. You'll get a lot more action there.
