Hi all
Greetings from sunny Warwickshire!
in common with a number of others on here, I’m enjoying a lot of the old tech that I either gave away back in the day when the next new shiny thing came along, or shoved in a box in the attic many years ago! Walkman’s (Walkmen?!) are a big interest as are other portable audio players (minidisc, Sony memory stick players, and I found my original 1st gen iPod recently).
I’ve wanted a retro boombox for a while, but the eBay route seemed like a minefield - lot’s of people advertising “it worked when I last used it but I no longer have a tape to test it with” units, which to me sounded a little like “I know it doesn’t work but I’ll try to sell as working”. Anyway, I found an excellent UK based seller, got chatting to him (nice guy), and long story short, ordered a very reasonably priced Sanyo m9500L from him, to dip my toe back in the water. Have to say that I’ve used it every day since receiving it, and I’m loving the memories it evokes, not to mention it actually sounds pretty good too!
He’s currently in the process of refurbishing a JVC M70, which I’ve got first refusal on (I owned one back in the day), so I’m pretty excited about that.
Looking forward to learning lots from the knowledgable folk on here, and contributing where I can. Cheers!
