Went to the new local hhgregg store today and finally got the opportunity to play with
the ipod kaboom they had on display.
Let me tell you I was quite impressed as I put it through "the test".
I popped my ipod in there and put on some plump electro and dance tracks.
Some people were looking at me like I was nuts, but some stood by listening on as
that sucker was kickin like nobodies business!!!
Tara was way in front of the store (a good 40 to 50 feet away) and she could hear it
loud and clear.
Anyhow I would highly recommend this for anyone who is on the fence about getting one.
They sound real nice and they can kick the bass just like the old tape deck models.
Another plus is they are still built nice and solid.
I give it two

I have the RV-NB10W white & silver kaboom, I just wish it had tweeters because it would even sound better. I'm very content with it the bass is just delicious.

I took this sucker to my friends house one night rested it up against the floor and wall and my friend was amazed at the bass this box pushes out.

How does it compare to the Altec??
I would say loudness and bass wise right up there with the Altec.
Maybe even a bit more volume output.
The Altec sound is much more detailed though, likely due to the EQ and tweeters.
The kaboom is just a litte muddier sounding.
All in all the JVC Kaboom sounds better than 90% of vintage boomboxes in a much
uglier package
Maybe they will allow me to do a side by side if I bring my Altec to the store :w00t:
Juan I really love your white kaboom !!! I wish they would have done the re release
in white or other kool colors.

After all the initial bad press, I pretty much discounted this model but couldn't resist playing with one when I saw it at my local electronics store. When I did, I was pleasantly suprised that it actually sounded pretty good and it's on my list. Hope I can pick up a new one before they discontinue it, as I'd prefer not to go the second hand route.

This is a nice surprise. I thought it would not be as good as the previous models.

People just can't handle high volumes anymore :ninja:
