Hey all in Boomboxery collective, not posted in a while (but have been lurking) so hope you are all well
So ive been wanting one of these for ages but they dont come up all that often and when they do they can reach big $$$'s. Picked this one up on ebay for £50 so obviously its not going to be mint.
Firstly the good news, everything works, the tape is a bit quiet i guess this could be because the deck looks really dirty inside, the stunning needle vu meters (prehaps the best meters ever) bounce as they should and the colours are clear and unfaded, radio picks up well considering the antenna is broke/missing, and best of all the sound is awesome, and yeah, its very very loud.
The bad news, paint spots lots of paint spots, an antenna stump sticking out the top of box which is really loose (not sure if its even attached to anything?) and nasty crack in the radio lens (might be able to replace this with a new piece of perspex?) and also the the battery grave is a little bit mucky but noway the worst ive ever seen. I must add the seller was totally upfront about all this in the ad.
I was i little disapointed the the extra input is phono in rather than line in however it does have the 5 pin din socket but im not sure how this works
In summery if you can look past all the paint and grime (which my wife cant) its actually in good solid, working condition. Im pretty sure i can replace the antenna and the radio lens and i can sure get the paint and grime off. It will never be mint, but im happy that it can be a good park and work radio and not have to be overly worried about it.
Any how heres some pics, i'll add some more once ive cleaned this monster
