So, As you know, the West Coast Meet was today. (Details here)

Miles, who lives in Los Angeles brought me a HUGE surprise....Hold on, I'm getting ahead of myself...

A few years ago, I made a trade with member Blasterpunk for a J1 747 Super Jumbo. The box is flawless, looks like it just came out of the shipping box. It powered up, all the lights worked, but no sound!

Last year while at the Lasonic factory for the filming of Miles' "Boombox Creators" documentary I was speaking with Albert, the owner of Lasonic. Somehow the conversation rolled around to my J1 and the fact that it was not working. He told me to bring it down and he would have his tech (also named Albert) have a look at it. Albert (Lasonic Tech) tracked down a faulty amp chip. I purchased a brand new, old stock chip and mailed it off to Lasonic. That was months ago. Being busy myself, I haven't had time to think about it.

Then with this meet coming up I thought it would be nice to have the J1, working or not at the meet for everyone to see. I asked Miles if he could stop by Lasonic which is semi close to his work, to pick it up if he was coming to the meet.

Miles showed up today, not only with the J1, BUT WITH IT FULLY REPAIRED!

I am absolutely FLOORED!

Albert told Miles not to tell me it was fixed, Miles said NOTHING and I was drop jawed!

You know that feeling....the feeling of getting a new box! TODAY I had that feeling mixed with a surprise!

To Miles,

Bro, you are one of a kind! Your passion for the Boombox is as strong as the strongest members on this site and beyond. THANK YOU so much for going out of your way and making this happen. This has been 2 years in the making and because of your documentary and the hard work you do, I now have a fully working J1.

To Albert & Albert at Lasonic,

You guys are amazing. The fact that you would work on a non Lasonic box for me and get it fully working just goes to show once again how dedicated your whole family is to the culture and freedom that Boomboxes provide us all. I don't know what I can do to thank you, but I will figure something out! We all love our radio's, but you guys LIVE it, it is your family, it is your business and I will always support Lasonic!

Today is one of the best day's I have ever had Blasting!

Of course the first thing I did was put my Blu_Fuz universal boombox strap on the handle and ROCKED IT  (Picture courtesy of Mac Daddy Freshness)

The J1 is a box I lusted after for a long while before obtaining one.
Did have a possible trade in the works with Peter but that fell through.
(Probably for the best)
I ended up getting a very nice example from one of the esteemed members here

Hey Guys, thanks for the kind words.

It just blows me away, that all these pieces have come together. Without a doubt this radio is the crowning jewel of my collection and it is SPOTLESS. No scratches, no chips in the feet. I do have to re-belt it for the decks to work, but it is stunning.

Maybe it is age, but I don't get to many surprises any more. For the most part, life is set in stone, in a good way. But Miles blew me away yesterday. Last I had spoken to him he was "Going to Try" to make it to the meet. He has an amazing collection and I was just hoping to hang out with the guy, because he's a cool head. But I know he knew I was shocked when I saw it AND him!

September 14th is the Los Angeles Beat Swap in Chinatown. Last year Peter, Adrian, Miles and myself showed up to ROCK the party. WERE GONNA DO IT AGAIN! Last year I had the TRC-935, this year...I'm thinkin' J1
