I'm going to Japan in June and will be in and around Tokyo. I was wondering if any one knows where to look for Boomboxes there. I'm hoping to find a nice GF-777 or TRC-975 or other large boxes. I also may be in South Korea, if you know any places there please let me know!

Thanks

My wife, who's been there, says it's a little, out of the way place and hard to find, but, with some help from the locals (plunk down a city map in front of someone and ask, "Turbo Sonic?"), you should be able to find it. Or... maybe someone here has the address and a map they can post.

(Once upon a time there was also a place called Design Underground, but all links to it now seem to be dead. Must be gone.)

Thanks all, I will take a camera and if I can find the great lost tomb of the Japanese 80's Boombox's and escape with my life, I will return with treasures and boombox riches! LOL

Thank you btw, for pointing me towards Turbo Sonic. I have seen this place listed before. I found their main website:
http://turbosonic.net/en/contents/info.html

They have a nice selection. I'll have to make an appointment to see them when I am there. I am really hoping to find a shopping area or used electronics area in the down town possibly where I might find something. I'm sure these people are not fools and know exactly what they have, but I'm still hoping to find some deals.

I need to work on my Japanese...

I need to know how to say: "Hello, Please take me to your RC-M70, GF-777 and the red light district!!!!"

The website above shows they have an M70 in stock!

:hmmm: One might miss out on fine boxes after goin' to the red light district first.
My advice , first to the boomboxes and then boom some boxes

If you're going to Turbo Sonic, and looking for boxes, but not sure which box to get, then I would kindly ask you to buy the RED Sharp VZ-V20.

This must surely be the Grail of VZs!!

apparently, Turbo Sonic once had one of these for sale!!

Happy BoomBox Hunting!

Still not sure what box to come home with?

Remember that red VZ! You'd probably be the first member to own one!! ( and I'll be envious!! )

Be unique! Get a red VZ-V20!!

:agree: That box - in that color - is most definitely the one to get! Forget that Lasonic - you can score those in the States at any time. You CAN NOT score that Sharp in the States. I would've went after one on Yahoo Japan but I was dead broke both times. :-D  I haven't seen another red one since...

I don't think he has much to worry about... ;-) He's a gaijin (foreigner/outsider) - he'd be lucky to get any play from the ladies over there in Kabukicho (Tokyo's red light district) 'cause almost all of those establishments he'd attempt to step in are for "JAPANESE ONLY".

And if you do get any play,... you WILL pay! :-D Better stick strictly to box hunting, unless your pockets are knee deep!

That is no joke, last time in Amsterdam, I learned why they call it "Turning a Trick".

I'll stick to the boomboxes. At least I'll get what I pay for!
