Hey Everyone! I'm Joe and I'm from New Jersey, United States. I've always loved 80's boomboxes, mainly because of how many features they could cram in and still call it "portable." Similarly, I also collect (among other things) portable record changers and 80's portable computers.
This past weekend I was at a swap meet in Pennsylvania and somehow I ended up with 9 80's boomboxes for a grand total of $100. Some are pretty impressive, like the Crown CSC-350 and the two Toshiba Boombeat models, while the Realistic and the SounDesign are downright pathetic. They all need work. They all need belts for the cassette decks and half of them need surrounds for their speakers (or passive radiators.) There's some electronic issues that need to be sorted out, but I'm no stranger.

However, the reason I post is titled the way it is is because of what I'm going to pick up on Friday. For as long as I've known what it was, I've wanted a Sharp VZ-2000, but they've always been too expensive. The one I'm buying needs some work on the turntable, so it's an expense I'm comfortable with.

Most of what I bought at the swap meet will get fixed up and resold. The VZ-2000 is mine for life

Nine in one go is quite a haul! The VZ2000 is a great box, seemingly rarely cheap in the US so congrats

If you've never picked up a vz2000 you're in for a workout plus the sheer size of it .I love this boom box.
