A few weeks ago I posted in the 'Parts/Radios Wanted' section about wanting to get myself something special for my upcoming birthday. Shortly thereafter a PM arrived from Ira. It seems the planets were all in alignment and a chance for me to get one of the big grails and everything just seemed to fall into place from there!
My sister and Dad kicked in some money to cover the postage as their birthday present to me and before I knew it the radio was here. But this was last wednesday. I wasn't to celebrate my birthday until today. My birthday's not til 6th December, but my Dad's in a nursing home and we have him home alternate wednesdays and celebrate our birthdays earlier to fit this schedule. The other option was to wait until the 9th of December, which was completely unacceptable on every conceivable level, of course.
The past week though hasn't been much fun at all, knowing what was in the house and not being able to even make sure it got here ok made for many nightmares and high tension!
But the week has passed, and today I finally had one those real 'moments' as a collector. To get something you've wished for and hope one day to have and experience and then it happens. And my friends, it was like time stood still and all those dreams became a reality that you only dared wish you could experience.
And what is this birthday radio that I've received thanks to Ira?
Any guesses??
Well, probably a few have guess already, but here shes is:
BAM!!!
The third ever recorded M90 to be in Australia (after Nikamichi and LEDmeter) has come home to live with me.
I am beyond elated about this, not so much for the collector-buzz and cache this radio has, but for the most important thing that people have been going on and on about, in thousands of posts, over many years: the SOUND.
All the stuff you read is true guys. This blaster really is unbelievably good at delivering hifi sound with all the bass mid treble you could ever wish for. The whole unit is class and quality beyond reproach.
I'd like to thank Ira for being such a top guy and a genuine pleasure to deal with. He's a true ace in our hobby.
Thanks for all the brothers who posted in the Birthday thread and I'll be looking forward to spending many, many years with my M90 cranking while being a part of boomboxery.
Rock On.
