Can anyone ID this box that Gil Scott-Heron is carrying around in this video?

Here are some larger images:

I teach Gill Scott-Heron to my students. There's plenty of his stuff on the net, starting from Youtube. So they have no problems with sources, and I encourage them to customize their search. One of their favorites, We Beg Your Pardon, is a lesser-known poem than The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, yet no less relevant:

When I saw this post I thought I had a moral commitment in identifying the box of the late poet. Tre was right, it's a lesser-known, yet no less relevant Sanyo:

Took a good 3 years to identify, but awesome work! Nice to get closure to some of these threads that disappear into the internet bliss with no outcome.

Thanks guys, it's always a pleasure to find out what's what. But precision is never an option, and I shouldn't have been carried away by enthusiasm. The Sanyo M 9915 K of my previous post -- which am proud to have found in excellent conditions -- has a different color scheme than the unit portrayed in the Scott-Heron video.

Of course I had already noticed it. But mine is the European, i.e. continental version. Hence, I reasoned, I only needed to find out the right American model to solve the problem. Yet the more I surfed the net, the less I was able to find the phantom Sanyo M 9915 "X" I was after.

Then it occurred to me that in the US Sanyos were often rebranded Sears. The moment I realized where the problem was, I nailed it: the box is one of the 2100 series with "a pretty long model number" as the author of the following video has it:

To be precise -- if sight assists me -- Gil Scott-Heron's boombox was a Sears SR 2100 Model n° 564.21940150

What do you think? Meanwhile, here is another Youtube video with the same unit:

That's dedication right there. I enjoy good investigative work.

By the way, the actual model number of the Sears 2100 series boomboxes is the portion that is underlined in that long number. In this instance, it would be 2194.
