Sanyo M 9915 K of my previous post -- which am proud to have found in excellent conditions -- has a different color scheme than the unit portrayed in the Scott-Heron video.
Of course I had already noticed it. But mine is the European, i.e. continental version. Hence, I reasoned, I only needed to find out the right American model to solve the problem. Yet the more I surfed the net, the less I was able to find the phantom
Sanyo M 9915 "X" I was after.
Then it occurred to me that in the US Sanyos were often rebranded Sears. The moment I realized where the problem was, I nailed it: the box is one of the 2100 series with "a pretty long model number"

Sears SR 2100 Model n° 564.21940150
