Whatsup all, New to this forum, just wanted to know if anyone know of any place I can take my GF 777 to
to have the belts re-done and general clean up in Melbourne Australia? Cheers

Welcome aboard, kratedigga.

You could probably handle the belts yourself. It does appear to be quite a daunting task, but it is possible - even by a non-technician.

Here are instructions to replace the belts:

You will need to buy these belts:

SBM 6.0 (Qty. 2)
SBS 7.4
FBM 11.5 (Qty. 2)

Those belt replacement instructions look a bit to high tech for my ability, and where would I even purchase the belts needed?

Any info and replies from Australian boombox heads would be great

Cheers All

Hey Krate, great to see another AU member.

I have very similar issues as you, finding belts and a good repairer...Sony seem to have belts for their models....

Have been given the name of a guy who I will check out, seems ok.

Will keep you in the loop, Gluecifer seems to have a very good repairer.....

Cheers tshorba, I trust you have had repairs done there before, is re-belting a major job? have you had tape decks reconditioned before?
Thanks again.

I more than happy with my repairs. This is where I work but my tech has fixed many boxes, amps, speakers, cassette decks and turntables for me, good thing is we have a lot of parts and belts on hand. Again this is where I work just to be clear on that. .

Hi Guys,

Sounds good to me, I have many boxes in need of belts only, I can't source them locally.
Nice to have a good reference here!
